Helping actors master a convincing American accent for auditions, self-tapes, and roles
Landing the role can come down to whether your American accent holds up under pressure — in the audition room, on a self-tape, or across a full emotional scene.
Whether you're preparing for a specific part, building General American for your range, or trying to shed a native accent that's limiting your casting, I help actors develop an accent that sounds authentically American and stays convincing even when the acting gets demanding.
Why work with me?
I'm a native American English speaker with a deep, technical understanding of how the accent actually works — the sounds, the rhythm, the intonation, and the subtle features that separate "close" from "convincing." Actors don't just need to be understood; they need to sound genuinely native, and to hold that accent while carrying emotion, volume, and pace. That's a higher bar than most accent work, and it's exactly what I train.
Lessons are practical and tailored to what you're working toward — a specific role, an upcoming audition, or general readiness for American casting.
What I help actors with:
General American for auditions and casting The neutral, unmarked American accent that most roles and casting calls ask for. We build it systematically so you can slip into it reliably, not just approximate it.
Self-tape and audition prep When you're recording yourself for a specific part, we can work directly on the sides — drilling the exact lines, the tricky words, and the moments where the accent is most likely to slip, so your tape sounds clean and native.
Holding the accent under emotional load It's one thing to sound American reading calmly; it's another to hold it through anger, tears, laughter, or a shout. We train the accent until it survives real acting, not just careful speech.
Shedding a native or regional accent If your own accent — British, Australian, or any other — keeps surfacing in the wrong moments, we identify exactly which sounds give you away and replace the habits so nothing pulls the listener out of the performance.
The details that break the illusion The American "r," the flap "t" in words like "better" and "water," specific vowels, and the linking and reductions that make speech sound native rather than studied. These small features are often what stands between a good accent and a believable one.
Rhythm, intonation, and natural delivery An accent isn't just sounds — it's melody and timing. We work on the music of American speech so your delivery sounds like a native speaker's, not a careful imitation of one.
What my students say
"My main goal was to improve my accent and I'm so happy I can already hear a big difference! Seeing the progress motivates me to keep working on my accent. Jesse is a true professional and I feel lucky to have found the right teacher for me so quickly."
— Alina, actress from Russia
"Jesse has been great in teaching me how to speak with an American accent. I am British and found it hard on my own, but with only a few lessons with Jesse there is already a big improvement."
— Lewis, actor from England

About Lessons
Whether you're preparing a specific role, getting audition-ready, or building a reliable General American accent for your career, I offer focused, personalized coaching built around your goals and your timeline.
Lessons break the American accent down into its parts — sounds, stress, rhythm, and intonation — and rebuild them into something you can produce on demand and sustain under pressure. For each feature, I'll show you exactly how to position your tongue and shape your mouth, with diagrams, examples, and audio recordings, so you develop the awareness to catch and fix yourself in the moment.
Lessons are hands-on and practical. You'll:
Work on real material — sides, monologues, or lines from the role you're preparing
Get live coaching and targeted corrections as you speak
Drill the specific sounds and words most likely to slip
Practice with customized texts and listening exercises
Get recordings to review between lessons
If you have an audition or shoot on a deadline, lessons can be focused tightly on getting that specific material performance-ready.
